From Spontaneous Decision to Success: The Story of Son of an Irishman Kitchen & Bath Renovations
When I moved to New Jersey in 2016, I had no idea that my life was about to take a significant turn. I had taken a job as a Cabinet Vision Drafter and IT Support member for a high-end custom cabinetry company, located just 30 minutes outside of New York City. Little did I know that this job would end up being the catalyst for the creation of Son of an Irishman Kitchen & Bath Renovations.
On my first day, I quickly realized that all of my past experiences, from drag racing to drafting and design, software coding to college football, would be useful in this industry. The owner of the company, Steve Egan, saw my potential and took me under his wing. He taught me everything he knew about the kitchen and bath renovation business, and it was at that moment that the roots of Son of an Irishman Kitchen & Bath Renovations began to grow.
Steve Egan was the second-generation owner of his company, with his father, Matt, being the first. Matt immigrated to the United States in the 70s and started this company right away. Steve took it over in the 90s and grew it from a small 2-man company into a record-setting, 7-million-dollar-a-year design-build establishment. Steve was as much of an Irishman as you can imagine, and in taking me under his wing, he truly became a father to me in every possible way.
In 2021, my family and I relocated back to Chattanooga, TN. Not wanting to forget all I had obtained under Steve, or lose the skills or information that I had developed within his company, I decided to pay homage to my “roots” and start my own operation in honor of Steve Egan himself.
Son of an Irishman Kitchen & Bath Renovations is more than just custom cabinets. It’s more than a design-build firm. It’s more than solving a problem. It’s a direct linear heritage of hard work, true dedication, and commitment to “staying the course” and simply figuring things out.
It’s standing on the docks of an NYC port after just arriving in the states and not knowing what to do, but making it happen anyways. It’s teaching a son how to think with his head and build with his hands, and all that comes with it. It’s taking a chance on a stranger from 1000 miles away and trusting that between the two of you, true magic can and will happen.
It’s doing what I can today, to ensure the security of my family tomorrow.
Son of an Irishman Kitchen & Bath Renovations is a story of how one man’s spontaneous decision to move across the nation led to the creation of a local business that is rooted in hard work, dedication, and sincere commitment to excellence.
